John James Teuchert of Barefoot Bay, Florida passed away July 22, 2020.. John Teuchert joined the U.S Marine Corps in 1942 and served in the Pacific theater. He took part in 4 invasions, including Iwo Jima, as American forces island hopped towards Japan. He was wounded on Iwo Jima and received the Purple Heart. John was discharged in 1945 and lives in Bare Foot Bay, Florida.

John James Teuchert of Barefoot Bay, Florida passed away July 22, 2020. John was born June 15, 1924 to Katherine and Frank Teuchert in Chester Pennsylvania. At the age of 18 John proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, 4th Division, to fight for his country during World War 2. John saw action in the Marshall Islands, Saipan, Tinian and Iwo Jima where he was wounded. He was a purple heart recipient. John married his sweetheart Nora, a marriage which lasted 54 years until her passing. John and Nora started a family before moving to South Florida with their children, Jack, Theresa, Patty, Carol and Bobby. John retired from the Department of Defense Naval Ordnance. Upon retiring he dedicated his time to aid and guide other veterans. He had served as commander and Chaplin with the D.A.V. chapter #40 Ft. Lauderdale, a member of the V.F.W., American Legion, Past President FL Chapter 9 4th Marine Div. Assoc. and Marine Corps Detachment # 918 Barefoot Bay. John was known as a social butterfly, a friendly and outgoing man with a passion for singing as well as many other hobbies. John accomplished his vision of publishing his memoirs into a book which he was very proud of "Growing up through the eyes as a Marine in WWII". John was preceded in death by his first wife, Nora Carney, his second wife Mary Jo Lieb and his brother Frank. John is survived by his brother Charles of PA and his 11 grandchildren, Kendra, Kristi, Jillian, Andrea, Katie, Jessica, Steven, Sara, Matt, Ben, and Savanna, 12 great-grandchildren as well as 2 on the way. He was known to his family as "Pop-Pop" and will be greatly missed. John will be buried in Bushnell Florida National Cemetery alongside his wife Nora on Friday, August 7th at 2:30 p.m.
