John I. Holden of Lake Ronkonkoma, and formerly of Southampton, died peacefully on October 13, 2021.
John Irving Holden was born on Jan 17, 1921 and served with the 660th Engineer Battalion as a Topographic Draftsman during WWII. John's Battalion was a technical support unit formed to provide surveying, drafting, and map production activities for the US Army during World War II. John served in England, France and Germany during and after the war. While serving in England John was witness to the devastation caused by the German V1 and V2 rockets.
